I have to acknowledge the receipt of your dispatch marked Confidential of July 30 last. You will at no distant period receive further instructions regarding the new Criminal Uniform.

I do not think it necessary to comment on the matter at present, excepting to remark that you have fallen into error in supposing that it was intended to assign to the Clerks of the Legislative Council any uniform or distinctive clothing.
